Will Your Laker Fit in the Garage?

A compact pontoon can still require more storage space than its model name suggests. Before ordering a Laker for garage storage, compare your available space with the complete boat-and-trailer configuration.

Measure the opening and the space inside

Record the clear width and height of the garage opening with the door fully raised. Measure usable interior length as well, allowing for shelves, steps and other obstructions. Keep these measurements together when discussing your package with the sales team.

Include the trailer and motor

The listed boat length is not the towing length. The trailer tongue extends forward, and the selected motor can extend beyond the rear of the boat. Trailer height also changes the boat’s clearance compared with how it sits on the water.

An optional folding or breakaway trailer tongue can help reduce stored length. Laker product answers describe a reduction of about three feet, but confirm the dimensions of the actual trailer you choose.

Check the console and bimini separately

Folding a bimini does not necessarily make the console or steering wheel low enough to pass under a garage door.
