Get the Most from Your Mini: 5 Pro Tips for Maximum Fun & Safety.
Your Exhilarator mini boat is a ticket to pure adrenaline and fun on the water. These boats are nimble, quick, and an absolute blast to drive. To help you get the most out of every moment, we've put together five pro tips for maximizing performance, fun, and most importantly, safety.
1. Master Your Weight Distribution
In a mini boat, how you distribute weight has a huge impact on performance. For the best hole shot (getting on plane quickly), have your passenger sit closer to the center. Once you're on plane, you can experiment with seating to find the sweet spot for top speed and handling. Learning how small shifts in weight affect the boat's ride is part of the fun and key to becoming a master pilot.
2. Learn to Use Your Trim
Your engine's trim is your secret weapon for performance. When accelerating, keep the motor trimmed down (closer to the boat) to help the bow stay low and get on plane faster. Once you're at cruising speed, start trimming the motor up. You'll feel the boat lift, the steering get lighter, and your speed increase as less of the hull is in the water. Finding the perfect trim position will make your boat faster and more efficient.
3. Respect the Chop
Exhilarator boats handle amazingly well, but they are still small boats. Learn to read the water ahead of you. When approaching a larger boat's wake, it's best to slow down and cross it at a 45-degree angle rather than hitting it head-on. This provides a much smoother and safer ride for you and your passengers.
4. Always Wear Your Kill Switch Lanyard
This is the most important safety tip for any small, fast boat. The kill switch lanyard attaches to you and will immediately shut off the engine if you are unexpectedly thrown from the helm. It's a simple device that can prevent a runaway boat and serious accidents. Make it a habit to clip it on before you even turn the key.
5. Keep It Light
To get the best performance, pack only what you need. Unnecessary weight will slow you down and affect handling. Bring your safety gear, a cooler with some drinks, and not much else. The lightweight, minimalist nature of an Exhilarator is what makes it so thrilling. Embrace it!
