"L’ETOILE" has always been the name of French warships since 1622 thanking the stars to be good guides for sailors.
Nowadays the schooner "L’ETOILE" and his sister ship "BELLE POULE" are replicas built in 1932 of fishing boats which were fishing cods near Iceland coasts till 1938.
They are used as a cadet training ship in the French navy school at Brest. The heading stability of those schooners is perfect as the sailing balance due to the length of the keel and the well balanced shapes of the hull. Averages speeds between 7 and 10 knots may be reached with a well settled wind.
